  1. I think it makes sense to begin with “open source” and then to present Wikipedia as a particular instance of that approach. I’m thinking about categories of knowing (I assure you, not in any deeply philosophical sense!), and it seems OS is parallel to theology (it’s about a way of seeing the world), whereas Wikipedia itself is more like “church” and “ministry”–the way OS-theology is practiced. Wiki- might give churches more ways to appropriate this way of thinking if Wikipedia is presented as an outgrowth of OS, rather than as an alternative -pedia. Does that make sense? What do you think?

    • If I understand you, then – right – showing the logic of moving from a particular gospel understanding to a church structural model is what I’m after.

I’ve not found it useful to be presented with an alternative if I don’t know why I’d want to consider it in the first place. This is where the rub came for me regarding church. Once I started seeing the implications of open source thinking, then I started understanding why Christian leaders would want a flatter structure.
